Reproducing Published Material from other Publishers
AICEI Proceedings requires that authors obtain permission from the copyright holder to reproduce any published material which does not fall into the public domain, or for which they do not hold the copyright.
Obtaining Permission is required in cases when:
- The author’s own works is published by other Publishers and the authors did not retain copyright.
- In case there are considerable extracts from the works or a series of works by other authors
- When Tables, Graphs, Charts, Schemes and Artworks are used (unaltered or slightly modified)
- When Photographs are used for which the authors do not hold copyright.
Obtaining Permission is not required in cases when:
- There are reconstructions of the author’s’ own table using data already published elsewhere. However, in this case the authors must provide an adequate citation of the source of the data. The citation should include the phrase "Data from..." or "Adapted from...".
- In case there are reasonably short extracts from the works or a series of works by other authors
- When Tables, Graphs, Charts, Schemes and Artworks are completely redrawn by the authors and significantly changed beyond recognition
- When the work is taken from a public domain.
In case when the authors are required to obtain permission for publication of their work, it is recommended that they start obtaining permissions as early as possible. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission and paying any fees required by the copyright holder. AICEI Proceedings cannot publish material from other publications without their permission. The copyright holder may give you instructions on the form of acknowledgement to be followed; otherwise follow the style: "Reproduced with permission from [author], [book/journal title]; published by [publisher], [year]." at the end of the caption of the Table, Figure or Scheme.
